Anti Dominican Sentiment on this Forum

It is clear to me that certain posters have anti Dominican agendas on this forum. To them this is a banana republic and will be for ever. I am married to a Dominican and she just graduated last week and to me that it is demonstration this country is gradually going forward as the younger Dominicans begin to have a voice and forge a new future rather than the people being treated as political fodder. Good news on many fronts is dismissed as more 'smoke and mirrors' and is liked by the moderator which tells us something of how she thinks. Realism is now the wishy washy excuse given for this anti Dominican rhetoric and what the Dominican authorities and media reports hourly and daily is discarded because it's a Dominican source. It is time to take time out whilst other members can decide if there is the anti-Dominican bias I am seeing.

ok, thanks. I will check it out. I have been to the Virgen de Altagracia Basilica, Higüey. Very very nice. Quiet and peaceful, we need more of that in this world.

@lennoxnev Lennox I happen to enjoy all the information and posting you do on this forum. I hope you will reconsider and continue to provide us with all this wealth of information you posses! I wish all the back and forth would stop and we can all respect the fact that we all have different views on things, But honestly is refreshing to hear all of your opinions on things. End of my story....

Delivered in about 3 1/2 hrs.... everything was very customer friendly ....great service

They even took away the old fridge as a favor

One more story...

Years ago.... hadn't been here long.... needed new tires for our one car....went to Nagua

Bought the tires.... and had them installed.

I asked about the old ones... their value..... nada , they told me.

Well, I have seen what they sell as 'used ' here -- Yul Brynner has more tread than some of them.

Then I looked out back.... my tires neatly stacked.... not in the garbage heap.

I told them to load up my old ones.

On the way back to Cabrera, I stopped beside a gomero and put my tires on the curb......

Like the Movie -- Gone in 60 Seconds......... $2,000 pesos.

Now some might have been angry..... and cry 'Foul'... the Doms tried to skin me !

No.... we watch out for ourselves.... take matters into your own hands.

I wasn't angry... was just 'aware' and chose a better route.

Half empty or half full is how I look at it.... what good does angry do.... it don't fix it !!

And is bad for your health.

I enjoyed that story about the tires, good one. Had you not repurposed your old tires, the shop would have. Nothing is wasted.

The more I am around, the more I am amused too. As you say, try to look at things in a different way.

Once I needed some boxes for moving. I went to the hardware store and the guy said he had some used boxes, not new ones but not dirty ones. I waited for him to show them to me. He came out with 12 or 15 boxes. They were fine, perfect size, not too big but not brand new. He said, $1000 pesos or $30. I had to laugh, because I know $1000 pesos is $20, not $30. I just pretended I didnt know the difference and paid $30. I thought $2 or $3 a box is a good deal, and I didnt have to run around looking elsewhere. My way if tipping him.
