Can a single parent live of 33k/month in Bagsværd?

Hi,

I am considering a job in Bagsværd. The average pay is 50k/month. According to the following website, I should take home about 33k after taxes.

I’m a single parent of a one-year-old. Could we afford to live in Bagsværd or the surrounding towns on my paycheck? So far it looks the answer is no, which I'm suspicious about. How do other single parents support their families in a welfare state where a lot of women choose IVF to start nonatomic families?

Having a car is out of the picture so will have to live close to public transportation. We don't eat out and really on free-of-charge child activities for fun.

It seems that the day care is approximately 4.5k/month. From reading apartment rental-related posts it seems the rent is not less than 22k.

Am I missing something here?

As I continue to do my research, I am grateful for your shared ideas and experiences.

Thank you for your response Nellie!

Would you be able to comment on what kind of area is Gladsaxe municipality? In general I find Denmark very safe so I'm more interested if the city is a quiet suburb, with an access to nature? It looks Gladsaxe is very well connected to Copenhagen. I'm glad for any info you can share.

Bagsværd is a nice place to live, close to public transport and nature (lakes and wood). Nearby Lyngby is a lovely town where you can get everything without going to Copenhagen.

When said, I find that the surroundings of Hesteskoen aren't desirable for a child, no grass, no play ground. On Google maps I only see a trafficked road and parking lots. However, centrally placed close to a station and shopping opportunities.

The flats were the first which turned up when I googled for flats in Bagsværd. There may be others and better ones.

My best advice to you is to let the company help you to find a suitable place to live. Do check the commuting time as public transport isn't the best everywhere.

If you have further questions, you are always welcome here.
