STVP expiring, may I renew? How?

Hello,

I resigned from my job and my SPass expired on October 4, 2023.

I am now on STVP until November 4, 2023. This is issued by MOM.

Will I be able to renew my STVP through the online form at ICA website?

If not, how else may I renew?

May I also go to JB Malaysia before my current STVP expires? let's say on October 23, 2023

If yes, will I get a 30-day ICA-issued STVP? or will my current STVP with a November 4 expiry still stand?

The reason for extension is because I have a few job interviews lined up.

I initially was planning to go back to my home country (Philippines), that's why I resigned.

But since I still have a place here, and a little time, I thought to send out my resume and some have responded and scheduled interviews. Some of them require face-to-face interviews, and it would be a shame to miss the opportunities.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions. Thank you in advance for your help! :)

ICA cannot extend an STVP issued by MoM - and MoM generally does not extend them (except in emergency situation): You have the 30 days and that's it!

Visa runs to Malaysia are not advisable, as the authorities can clearly see that as an attempt to circumvent their rules, and will thus not cooperate. You need to stay outside the country for at least a week and return after 4.Oct. to have a chance, but this is by no means certain - you might still be denied entry or given just a few days to pack your things and leave. Also, many have been denied entry just because they were looking for a job, which in itself is not illegal, but unwanted.

I recommend you return to your country and conduct the interviews from there, or return for interviews at a later date (i.e. in a few months).

@beppi Thank you very much for your valuable insight!

Will have to make some plans now, and contact some of those interested employers to maybe schedule my interviews at an earlier date...

@beppi hello again!

Just a follow up question: If I return to my home country, how soon can I come back to Singapore as a tourist? Can I come back in a matter of days since I went back to my home country? or should I wait maybe one or two weeks?

I'm asking because some employers would like me to specify a specific date for a rescheduled face-to-face interview.

Sorry to tag you, I just see that you seem to be responsive, helpful and insightful. Thank you in advance!

@RedInSG That is difficult to say. In general, you should avoid the impression you just left the country to get a new visa - which they don't like and will not allow. Fo this, the longer the absence the better, but nobody will tell you exactly how hight the risk is. It also depends on your reply to the "purpose of visit" question: Job search is frowned upon, but attending pre-arranged interviews is o.k. (have printouts of the employer's invitation ready to show!).

RedInSG

@beppi Thanks a bunch! big big help!

RedInSG

@beppi sorry to bother you again,

one more question:

What If I get accepted and have a signed job offer but no valid IPA yet (i.e. company/MoM is still processing it)? May I re-enter Singapore as a tourist and wait for my IPA approval here? Is it wise to disclose that at the border?

beppi

@RedInSG Yes, it is o.k. to visit while having an ongoing work pass application.

There is also no point keeping this secret from the border officers: They can see it in their computer!

Of course there is no guarantee that the work pass is approved during your visit (or ever).

RedInSG

@beppi Thank you so much! :)

No, you ask your ex employer to apply for extension 14days from your current STVP expiry date with your airticket on that same date 14days after your STVP expiry date.  i got approved juz 1 night next morning i got it.  now my new employer submitted my Epass last Thurs/Friday, pending so i need to extend anther 14days extensions again, i juz thinking shld change airticket to 14days from currenty stvp expiry or more than that coz i m afraid i need longter time for my epass approval.  if i extend 14days i still have 3 weeks and 4days left.
