New and green

I am totally new here and searching on the site. I am belgian and still living in Belgium together with my boyfriend. I work for a dutch company as an implementation conusultant in the IT sector, my boyfriend is self-employed and has a store in cigars and special drinks.

In my childhood, I lived for several years in africa with my parents, so emigrating is in my blood. On the contrary my boyfriend is not keen on making the move and building a new life in the DR. Although we have been to the DR several times on vacation.

For several weeks I have been searching for plenty of information to emigrate to the DR. I am creating a roadmap. Only the right information I am missing to complete my questions. You can find general information about the island but that is not enough. What are the rights and duties of a Belgian expat in the DR, what is the financial situation, what is the emigration procedure, .... I can't find this information anywhere. I have already sent an email to the DR embassy in Belgium with questions, but after 3 days I still have not received a response. Does anyone know which site/links are interesting to see my questions answered?
