Quick question about said topic.. Please help.. My flat contract indicates that our rent/agreement starts every 5th of each month.. Since im moving out of the flat, my landlady keeps hounding me for a month to leave earlier for her to fix the flat for the next tenant.. Due to some unforeseeable circumstances, i wasnt able to leave early.. Now shes forcing me to pay the whole next month coz she said she lost her next tenant.. Is this allowed? I left the flat 2nd of the month, a few days before the contract starts again.. I dont know what to do, coz why would i pay for a whole month if im not staying there, and all my furnitures and appliances are already moved out.. Please help

Look at your rental contract.  I hope you gave notice in writing and documented move out date.  If so, you don't need to pay anything.

Hello, she didnt ask for any documents whatsoever for the move out.. She didnt even give me a copy of the renewal of my contract.. All i have is the first one.. And ive been staying there for years.. It is indicated that the contract starts 5th of each month..

Please, whats gonna happen now? Do i actually need to pay her for this month??

Then you should be ok based on whatever you have told me.

@XTang so its actually based on whats written on the contract right? The date when it starts? She keep saying everyone leaves at the end of the month, even if their contract says it starts on the 15th or something.. And ive been so good to this lady, no complaints whatsoever.. I even do all maintenance myself

As I said, I haven't seen your contract but based on what you said, you should be ok.   Make sure to put something in writing stating that since you left the flat on the 3rd and rental period starts from the 5th, you are not liable for an additional month's rent.

@XTang okay okay, thank you so much for the response.. This is a relief.. I will have it in writing, i actually even took a video before i left so there will be no complaints about the condition of the flat.. I left it spotless!! Again thank you so much
