Post new topic

Hi all,

Me and my wife are planing to relocate to Bahrain I will be working in Seef area, we would like to know about a couple of points;

- What are the nice compounds / neighborhoods near Seef area and the average rent price for 2 bedrooms apartment or villa.

- What are the peoples' perception for large dogs (great danes), is it common for ppl - are ppl dog friendly like UAE.

- Any insights about the current political situation, how's the current situation going (is it safe).

any pointers will be highly appreciated :)

thanks all

Hi

Seef is a lovely area and quite expensive - tend to be more apartment blocks than villa's. Saar has some lovely compounds and is close to the causeway and only about 15 - 20 mins from Seef.

The locals see dogs as dirty but they wouldn't hurt them. Lots of wild dogs around which is probably why.  I know lots of people who have dogs and I hope you have a good company here helping you ship your dogs into Bahrain (long and difficult process)

Political situation is as always, arguments in the villages and a few demonstrations - nothing to worry about. Just don't move to a Shia village and you will be fine.

If you can't drive, there is no public transport here so you will have to live close to work or arrange a lift. I'm presuming that you don't really want an appt with big dogs, you are much better off with a villa that has a private garden.

As a final point, the people of Bahrain are very friendly and extremely helpful. You will love it here

Hello there,

First of all, welcome to the forum. I live and work in Seef area. As Jo said, Seef is kind of the upmarket area of Bahrain where you will see skyscrapers and shopping malls and office blocks. Seef is quite central, but for a dog like Great Dane, I would recommend a place with a garden. Although it is possible to live in an apartment block, I believe a big dog will get bored in a flat.

In Seef, you can rent a 2-bed flat between 500 / 700 and 3-bed between 650 / 1000. It all depends whether you want fully furnished or not furnished, or if you decide to live in a skyscraper how high your flat will be.

I've done enough flat-hunting in Seef when I came here first, so let me know if you need any other information.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks a mil Jo & Brightonguy,

We checked Saar in the link below(http://www.bahrainpropertyworld.com/sea … _true.html), meanwhile, what are other nice places for villas around the same area, our range of the housing budget is BHD 500 - 600.

Much appreciated :-)

There is Janabiyah, Jasra and Hamala

Depends on how many bedrooms you want but Bahrain Property World is a really good site. Also look in the classified section of expat-blot and http://www.expatriates.com/

I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. If you are on a tight budget try to get a place that is inclusive - this means the landlord pays your gas, elec, water and tax. Also internet and satellite if you are prepared to haggle

One thing not to forget is it is a renters market. Always haggle for extras - especially if you are on a tight budget.

Good Luck If you need any help or an inquiry from a Bahraini Person I will be here :-)

I think he meant penny lol

Amwaj is way too far when commuting to Seef, especially if they have no transport - spot on about it being safe but to me it is just a man made council estate. Every house is identical. I imagine everyone walking out of their front doors, dressed identically to collect the morning paper off the grass at exactly the same time and drive to work in their identical cars. Lovely if you like that kind of thing

Yes Benny did make me laugh :D

It is a great suggestion, just concerned it may be too far away but the more suggestions given the better and then  expat1234567 can make up his own mind.

I have a big dog and moved to Amwaj because it's the best environment for him in terms of being able to go for long walks, play on the beach and in the water, etc.  Lots of dogs in Amwaj!  And it only takes 20 minutes to get to Seef from Amwaj, which is nothing depending what you're used to.  I like that it's away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough that I can easily get there when I want to.

Anyway, that's my two cents...  Best of luck!

Thanks a lot guys for the advice, we will have transportation for sure, but one of our priorities is finding a good environment for our dogs, we are already used on living away of city and we drive daily not less than 30 mins lol, so 20 mins are great,...

Highly appreciated guys... Thanks a mil...

Me too but didn't know what it was like as a compound and what the community was like there.

Reef Island is actually a very nice place. It's recently developed so you will get good accommodation in there. The price really varies depending on which building you are in. A building with 2 bed could cost you 600 while the same facing the city could cost you a 1,000. Make sure you see as many properties as possible before you agree to one.

And for a big-size dog, it's also suitable. Although you won't get any villas in there, there are plenty of areas you can walk your dog.
