Is their a quicker way to citizenship?

I have had NZ residency for a year and a half and would like to purchase a home but I am afraid to do so without citizenship mainly because of tax laws in my country of origin. I am only 10 years from retirement and so would like to purchase soon. Is their a shortcut to citizenship if you are of a certain age ?
