Sports in Denmark

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

The Olympic Games are now just a few days away and we would like to talk about sports.

What sports are the most popular and/or unusual in Denmark?

Are sports facilities easily accessible there? Where and how can one find sports clubs in the region?

Are there sports events regularly held in the country?

And you? What is your favourite sport? Which one(s) do you practice in Denmark?

Thank you in advance,

Priscilla

The Danes like to play soccer and handball. I have seen complete shut down of the town, when Denmark reached final of handball ( can't recall which year was that). The Asian and British expats like to play cricket. I played second division cricket from Viborg cricket club. I also played indoor Badminton with my colleagues in  Silkeborg and in Copenhagen. So really enjoyed the events and then we had after games beer or some fun. Summers can attract some beach volleyball after work.

I joined the Copenhagen Lacrosse Club.  They have both men's and women's teams.  There are lacrosse clubs in Odense and århus as i recall, pehaps Aalborg as well.  Soccer, badminton, team handball, long-distance running are the most popular sports.  If you are a runner, find out if there is a groups called Hash house harriers in your area. Google on it.

Good luck,
