Family reunion visa application with one year contract

Post new topic

Hello everyone,
I'm from Vietnam and I'm a PhD student. My program is 4 year long and it is fully funded. However, the scholarship agreement is issued yearly, which means it is renewed at the end of each year.

My wife and kid are currenly living in Vietnam, and I'd like to bring them here with me, but I don't know if it's possible? Be aware that my scholarship is enough to cover the expense for three of us.  Some of my friends said that to do family reunion, I need a long term or a permanent contract. Is it true?

Thank you very much.

It would depend on how long you are here already. If this is ure first year there is no historical proof that you're company/university does yr/yr contracts and would be difficult for approval.

If its 2nd yr or later there is a trend and then its more likely to be accepted.

It's the 2nd year I'm here, so I hope it's OK. Thanks for your answer.
