Hello everyone,

Did you plan your budget before your move to Ireland? If so, how did you go about it?

How do you save money in your day to day life? Do you find there are any areas where you can't cut costs?

Do you have any tips about saving money in Ireland? For example, getting the best deals on accommodation, grocery shopping and dining out, the best value transportation, etc..

Are there any apps or websites that have helped you to save money?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi,

For my personal experience, Yes, I planed a budget before moving in Cork City.

Shared house or flat is the best deal for accommodations. To rent a place just for yourself is too expensive.

For food I try to buy fresh products, I mean vegetables and meat (but any prepared meals or frozen stuff except ice cream :D ) at LIdl or Tesco and cook myself. Each time I fill a full bucket at Lidl and it is less 20€ and I can eat for few days.
It is almost 3 months now and I spent circa 180€/month for food (restaurant or beer are not included). So I think it is a good solution for saving money when you have just moved in Ireland and still looking for a new job.

You have shop like TkMax where you can find very good deals sometimes for cooking tools. And it is good brand and quality. Now there is a new shop called Home Sense in Cork city where you can find a lot of good things too.
Dunes Store is very good for home and bedroom stuff.
