Can my boyfriend and i apply for MVV even if he is not Dutch? He is a Polish citizen living and working in Amsterdam?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Yes, you apply for MVV in your own right, your boyfriend has nothing to do with it.

Your boyfriend does not need an MVV, he is an EU citizen and has the right to live and work anywhere in the EU.

Hi there ,
you can check this link:
https://www.iamexpat.nl/expat-info/dutc … etherlands

There's got to be a provision for an EU working in Holland to apply for a visa for his partner to join him, with him being the sponsor.

The application of an MVV on your own is only possible for high skilled worker  for which the requirements include a contract with a "registered" company in holland or you are employed in an company in the EU that is going to "transfer" you to holland as a manager, specialist or trainee for a branch in Holland.

So I hope this helps.
If anyone else has any information on this, it would be great if you could share it.

That's not quite correct; anybody can apply for MVV, you don't have to be a skilled worker (they have a different process); what happens is the IND asks advice from the Netherlands Employees Insurance Agency (UWV) about the chances of the individual getting a job in the Netherlands; if there is no chance (i.e. no skills or relevant experience), then the chance of getting your MVV is pretty slim.

Hope this helps.

That's great then if there are a lot of other ways to get an MVV, can you send more information or the link to getting an MVV on your own with no job contract(from a company) or  no sponsor(partner/spouse), and if your'e also not a recent graduate  of any of the top 200 schools.

As for the originally posted question, can you confirm once again that her NON Dutch ,  EU boyfriend who works in Holland cannot sponsor her? It would be great to know what the real score on this is, as I've read other, than what you first replied to her.

Thank you very much.

Hi again.

MVV and family visas are two different types of visa.  If a person has a long and enduring relationship with another person legally in Holland (and that person doesn't need to be Dutch), then he/she can apply for a reunification type of family visa.

If they don't have that kind of relationship, or don't meet all the requirements, then providing the person has a chance of getting work (so can get work with a minimum salary of € 1,594.20 p/month - which is the Dutch minimum wage level - everybody must get this if they are in full-time employment), then he/she can apply for MVV in their own right, this Forum is full of stories from people who have done it.  Holland has many no-EU workers who have used this route to get into the country, they are not all skilled migrants.

The Skilled worker visa that you referred to is another type of work visa that has conditions attached to it (i.e. employer register with IND, salary levels of € 3,229 gross per month); if you are lucky enough to qualify for this, then you don't need MVV, you are exempt, your future employer sponsors you.

It follows that if a person does not qualify for a family reunification visa and has no skills, they will not get any kind of visa to live and work in Holland.

Hope this helps.

"Je ziet door de bomen het bos niet meer" !!

Come to Holland = Immigration
If you want to come as a foreigner to The Netherlands, you gennerally need a Visa.

Here in the Netherlands we do have bureaucracy: "van het kastje naar de muur" and even for me; born as a local dutch boy: difficult to understand.
And, also then; some weblinks are NOT in English  :dumbom: at the official dutch IND website!

Ok.
I shall try to make a simple tree:
See what you need to do when you wish to stay in The Netherlands:

TEV; the Toegang- en verblijfprocedure is 1 proces to check

- Short stay;
- Family;
- Study;
- Work;
- Permanent-residence;
- Marry a dutch and to integrate (inburgeren).

The Ministery of Justice and Security (IND) with 'Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (DUO) and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment did make exams for intergration.

The Dutch government has created a study package with the name Naar Nederland.
and contains free lesson materials for learning to speak, understand and read Dutch. You can also practice for the exam independently. You can order the lesson materials or download them free of charge from this site. The package is available in 34 languages.

In order to show that you are sufficiently integrated from abroad, you have to obtain the civic integration diploma.
This means that you can read, write, speak and understand Dutch.

Find information about integration as a condition for applying for a residence permit 'humanitarian non-temporary' and 'permanent stay'.
And information on integration as a condition for naturalisation.
