How to apply for Blue Card

Hi Everyone,

I've been living in Hungary for 18 months. I fit all the points mentioned in the bmbah website. How should I proceed with the application of blue card in Hungary?
And let's say after a while I get an opportunity to switch to another EU country, would my bluecard be switched to that country's bluecard? (for example Germany?)
Also, if I move to another EU country without obtaining BlueCard here in Hungary, would my eligibility criterion starts from ground zero for that country?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

What's a blue card?  Do you mean the EHIC? European Health Insurance Card?

I don't think the EHIC is transferrable in any procedure. You'd have to apply for a new one there if you moved to another country.  And access to it would depend on payment of social taxes.  That assumes you have any entitlement to having an EHIC.  In any case, your employer should cover all your insurance needs.  Best to ask them what they will do for you.

Mr Fluffy,

I think they mean a EU Blue Card.

Wow, I never knew such a thing existed.    Wikipedia says the visibility and use of that system is quite low.

It's more common or popular in some other countries, like Germany.

I'm somewhat surprised I didn't know about it.

But I have an excuse that it never applied to me so why would I know?!

Interesting that the numbers using it are very low.   You'd think it would have applications in the millions.

Compared to the H1B system in the USA, it's hardly used.

Ahhh, nooo. I don't even know what that is :P
I meant EU-BlueCard. It doesn't have any other name.

GuestPoster487

No, not an EHIC or anything. BlueCard doesn't have another name.

I don't think anyone here will know about it.

My comment the same as for another thread, although having a card with the intention to abandon your employer is not too positive, 18 month is not too long, just hold out for 4+ years, learn and show yourselves.
In general your employer should arrange for all. NOT YOU!

@cdw057, I am happy to have your attention on both of my posts. However, what you're devising doesn't solve my problem. Neither does it show me anything. Could you be more generic and broadly opinionated? Employer DOES NOT arrange a BC. It's a special status!
