Hi All, I am currently working in SG on EP. Recently I got a new offer and my Employer applied for EP on 28th Dec 2020. I know that I still have time but just want to know if anyone got approval in Dec Month and how long it took for processing.

Hello !! My Ep got approved recently .
My agency applied for my pass on November 25 th and got approved on 24 th December(29 days) I’m outside of Singapore and I wasn’t a pass holder. I used to work in Singapore till February 2020 came last March to Sri Lanka after resigning.

Hey - can you plz tell me if you were able to check the “ pending status “ online ..

dilshankm

Yes. We can check the status anytime except schedule maintenance. Usually the system is working all the time.

avinashjha

Took less than 24 hrs for me. Applied on 30th afternoon. Was already approved when I checked today at 9

SonyPriya123

Wow! Its too fast. Congratulations...

avinashjha. can u please tell us for how much salary u got approved and ur background. if u dont mind 🙏

avinashjha

Salary ofcoz I cannot tell as if is supposed to be confidential. 😃 I am Data Scientist with 10+ years of work experience.

Moreover -apart from salary and background, the employer profile too matters in EP approvals

Also, I have been reading ur case. You need to talk to your employer on possible SPass/EPass solution for you. Is the employer willing to drop another employee to open SPass quota for you ? Or are they willing to give a huge pay rise to make u eligible for EP? Like Beppi mentioned - even in case of a huge pay rise all of a sudden, MOM will further require on the reasoning behind that. So, none of our suggestions would help unless u have a clear communication with your employer

ayaan6

ok bro. 🙄thanks for ur reply. congrats .

That's close to a month already
Are you in Singapore? and what's your salary range?

LSF11

Ikr, that's why I am a bit worried :(
I'm in SG, changing my job to other company. Currently i am holding a work permit in the previous company (unable to get S pass due to quota issue).
I did an assessment via SAT which showed i am eligibile for EP, but until now it havent get approved yet.

Anyone applying EP in Dec and still pending?

avinashjha

You can ask your Employer to check with MOM. Processing time mentioned is 3 weeks so after that Employer can check with MOM

As we inform time to time that educational background, job field, job role, employer, salary etc are very much part of selection criteria. There are few highly demanding job roles such as AI, data science, Blockchain, cyber security, Quantitative analyst, algorithms trading, research role and essential services (related current pandemic), if your job role falls on either of one then chances are very high that you will be getting approval in very quick time. I have seen my colleagues who are into quant analysis and algo trading also getting their EP approval in a day or two.

Please read below link I had shared sometime back where you can see how MoM guidelines are stricter now. Good luck to all of you who are waiting for the result.

Still waiting as of 16 Feb 2021

blissfulsoul1906

hello,

I'm in same situation, rather terrible.

EP Applied on 13th Jan 2021
Status: Pending
Industry and skill: IT and Cloud Security in a Bank.

HR told me that they have been advised to wait for 3 months, anyone know why would it take so long?
Thanks!

surya2k

I have doubt that MoM tells such fixed months timeframe. On application result, ideal situation can take anywhere between 2 weeks to 4 weeks but there are cases which took 8 weeks or beyond.

You didn’t tell whether you are currently working in Singapore or company is hiring you from outside of Singapore.

Current hiring process is scrutinised by various factors including current market situation where companies are told to hire local people. So, employer has to justify to hire a foreigner who is not residing in Singapore. You can read several discussions in this forum in recent weeks. Good luck

blissfulsoul1906

Hi Surya,

Thank you.

I'm working and living in Singapore, I relocated to SG in late 2019 from Europe, does the tenure in current company matters?

I'm actually trying to find reasons for this delay but you mentioned MoM doesn't disclose such information. however 8 months wait period is quite discouraging.

surya2k

It was typo read as 8 weeks or 12 weeks. It depends on how your employer present it’s case at MoM. MoM checks all possible criteria and rationale before provides  its approval. So, sometimes it gives verdict less than a week or worst case more than 8 weeks.

If your employer has its urgency to hire you then they should present their case with proper explanation and proof that they tried locally for 1 month (after they post the job in local job bank) but couldn’t find a local employee who has set of skills which they require for this job. Hence, they hired you.

Was it direct payroll of a bank or under a consultant? Consultants in most cases have bad reputation at MoM as they don’t maintain local and foreigners ratio (rather forcibly maintain in most of the time) in line with MoM guidelines.

blissfulsoul1906

Hi Surya,

It's a Direct hire and permanent position with a bank.

thanks.
