Is it hard for foreign teachers to travel to China now?

Post new topic

Hi guys,

I have a question. Whenever I see job openings in China, it is always stated as 'Must be currently in China" as one of the requirements.

Is it true that entering China as a foreign teacher is very difficult now? I have a job waiting for me in August and wondering am I gonna make the trip.

Pls advise.

Thanks

HattieM

It's all unknown!  Have you applied for your visa?  It is a long process.  I am part-way through and just have to cross my fingers that I'll get it in time for July!

I am waiting for my work permit approval. Visa should start after that and keeping my fingers crossed/

Have you?

I can't quite get my head round all the stages, but my new school is currently doing whatever bit they do with all my documents!!  It is eye-wateringly expensive!!

It is Hattie. So much procedures , so many protocols! I have been applying since Feb and its on-going.....I am also waiting to start in the last week of July. Do not forget we also need to be quarantined for about 21 days minimum. Oh god.. :)

I am currently in China, but I don't have a bachelor's degree (or above) so am not allowed to work as a teacher....like it would make any difference at all if I had spent one extra year in higher education back in the late '80s...
IMO, they set the rules to reduce the number of people they have to choose from - to make the job easier - not with any actual consideration of how good a teacher any individual might be. A lot of companies do the same when they have a lot of applicants...some just throw away half the pile of applications, irrespective.
