EP Rejected - New application vs Appeal

Hi all,

Reading a lot of postings here, it's been very helpful. Appreciate if you could give some advise on my case below.

New EP applied by my new employer, yet got rejected yesterday (Sep.8). Per HR check with MOM, it was due to the education background discrepancy - old EP and per MOM agency input, it's awarded in China but HR put UK due to misunderstanding. And confirmed with the officer that it was the only reason of rejection.

HR actually picked it up before the outcome. She revised in system and dropped an email to MOM but per MOM reply, they would only evaluate based on the original submission hence the revision was not considered. HR also asked if she should appeal or correct the mistake, but it seemed the officer implicitly suggested to have a new application as the original wrong info stayed.

Therefore HR proposed to go for a new application, which required the proof of bachelor degree (proving the awarding country and I had it), and she would contact for expedition right away. May I know in such situation, I should go for the new application rather than appeal?

Checked that for STVP auto issued by MOM aft old pass canceled, it could be hard to get extension. My STVP will expire Sep 25 so I only have a bit more than two weeks. Any suggestions?

Thanks a million,
Eva.

I would appeal, as it is usually faster.
But two weeks is tight in any case - prepare to leave Singapore temporarily if it takes longer!

tandieva

Thanks, beppi. Since it's said at least 3 weeks for appeal in the website, I'm not sure whether it takes longer or not.

Is it possible to appeal while keep this new application open at the same time? Reading previous postings, it seemed that only one application would be reviewed at a time.

Another question is is there any suggestion to get an extension of STVP? Will a one-way flight aft expiry date legit? Thanks.

beppi

Only one ongoing application/appeal at any one time.
And a post-EP-STVP cannot normally be extended.

tandieva

I see. Appreciate it.

Hi tandieva, mind sharing some info on your current situation? Have you got back or successfully extended STVP?

All the best!

GoodLuck6688: company submitted new application Sep 9, no update yet. I got my ex-co HR helped submit extension request yesterday, waiting for the result. Will keep posted.

All the best!

Hi All,
Just to inform you that my second appeal has been rejected despite the company letter written by my CEO to explain why they need to keep me onboard instead of hiring someone else. MOM mentioned in the rejection letter that candidate still does not meet qualifying  criteria for an EP (same rejection letter they sent for the first appeal).
FYI, I’m a DP holder working under a loc valid until 5 October 2021. I have been working for 9 months, my company has followed the recruitment process as usual and among the last candidates I was the best fit and that’s the reason why my company hired me (makes sense).
Position: Business Dev in insurance industry dealing with both French and local companies.
Experience: 7 years including 2 in SG
Salary: minimum indicated on the SAT tool to be eligible for an EP.
I wasted 3 months for nothing!!

Good luck for those waiting for approvals :)

SYYYY

are you going to appeal again?

Deltayankee

That’s not possible because a company can appeal only twice. SP quota is full so I don’t have other options except leaving the company.

Hi Tandieva,

thanks for your feedback, my application was submitted on 16th Sep;

for the extension, kindly try with online extension first and if reject then go appeal at ICA with passport and local sponsor.

Good luck!
