I’ve been coming to the Philippines for five years now, I retired 18 months ago and decided to stay long term, It’s taken every bit of five years to learn the ropes here. I live in a Barengay where as far as I can tell I’m the only foreigner around, I still get a lot of curious stares when I go to the outside market stalls, I hold my head up and walk confidently, I know how to cook , so gathering meal ingredients is one of my pass times , I’m not thrilled with Philippino cuisine, I rushed around for forty years working as construction site manager , I’ve learned here in the Philippines to take it easy. It appears there is definitely no rush here.

Hi Julien

I am moving my initial post here

Hi

I am Scott from Washington State US. Thanks for the Add. I am back and forth to Cebu and sometimes Mindinao. Right now back to Washington State.

I have lived in Horseshoe Hills and Courtyard in in Banawa off and on the last few years. I am joining the ExPat Forum to communicate

with people just for fun and also to share information. For example, My Wife and I are building a house in Lagtang Cebu and it is nice to compare

notes with others who are doing the same things. Well thats all."

hi.  I do have a general enquiry.  I lived and worked in Australia for more than forty years but I have lived in the Philippines for the last seven years.  Would I be able to apply for an Australian pension while living here?  How would I do that?  Please help me

WHITE ASIAN

I have jut applied for the Non Quota Visa.

It stated that i had a minor offence for tax evasion.

No time spent, good behaviour, pay back tax to the value of $1,500.

What are the implications now of possible rejection of the non quota Visa for the Phillipines ?

Thanks to anybody who knows.

Welcome to the forum, I have no idea and for non quota visas I could only suggest talking to an immigration lawyer/attorney as that is a very specialized area of visa with limited numbers. Good luck and hope you find your answers.

Cheers, Steve.

@RickTacloban

Hi Rick and all,

We have lived in Tacloban since 1999.  We reside in a subdivision called San Gerardo Heights.  Nice quiet subdivision.  I have driven here since 2012 without any incidents.  Knock on wood, LOL.

My wife passed away this October 14 due to a stroke 4 years ago and a prolonged illness as a result.

We have a new Jolly B on Maharlika that I will be trying out for breakfast a few days a week, or more.

Would love to her from other Expats in Tacloban.

Regards, Eric Lilley
