Has anyone recently transferred their tax residency from the US to Portugal? 

Please answer any questions you can.

  • What was the process?
  • How long did it take?
  • Did you use consultants in the US or Portugal?
  • What do you wished you had known before you did this?
  • Would you do it again if you had it to do allover?
  • Now that you've transferred your residency, what do you file for taxes in the US and Portugal?
  • What forms of income are being taxed in Portugal and at what rate?  Assume no income earned in Portugal.
  • Are you paying any taxes in the US?
