Coming to Porto alegre in a few weeks to start searching for job opportunities, and former individuals that have been through this kind of thing before.

Braziian get jobs first. You need some pull to land jobs here , unless, there is, they realize you got something they lack and need that you can provide without replacement.

Specially in Rio Grande do Sul.

Granted, there are a lot more English Speaking expats in Rio and Sao Paulo than Porto Alegre. Then, you might have a slight edge.

@sprealestatebroker thanks, and yea I have been told that being an English teacher would probably be the best route, are you aware of any expat groups in the Porto alegre area ?

How do you have a work visa without already having a job offer? I am assuming you know you can’t work on a tourist visa.

As @KenAquarius wrote, it's illegal to work for pay in Brazil on a tourist visa - including a 90-day visa waiver - and potential employers are well aware of that, because it's enforced. It's next to impossible to arrive in Brazil and find an employer willing to sponsor you to upgrade to a resident visa. Enjoy your visit, and be careful not to overstay your visa.

To answer your other question, InterNations says on their site that they have an expat group in Porto Alegre. That's all I know about them; you can find out more at internations.org.
