Swedish passport- visa on arrival, special circumstances

Post new topic

Phillip Shaps

Hi, I will be visiting Vietnam from April 24-26 and then again from May 25-29. I Have a Swedish passport, so I don't need to apply for an online e-visa. But I remember years ago I made similar trips and then there was some regulation that before re-entering Vietnam you must be out of the country for at least 30 days.  The paradox is that Thailand authorities say I must leave on May 25 because 30 days have expired. However, when I get to Vietnam on May 25, they will say you've only been out of Vietnam for 29 days. Does anyone else know about this regulation? Does it still apply?

Thanks in advance

Phillip

Hello Phillip Shaps, and welcome to expat.com!

As of ~ July of 2020, there is no longer the need for Visa Exempt visitors to leave VN for 30 days (link. See item #3)

Reports from people here on 15 day Visa Exemption of their successfully doing turn-around visa runs.

Feel free to ask further questions, or to post a new topic for discussion.

Again, welcome aboard and hope to hear from you again.
