Background Check With DUI

I am planning on applying for a Rentista Visa in Peru. However, 3 years ago I was arrested for a DWI. I am wondering, does anyone know if this is going to be a problem when they request the background check? I don't want to go through the process and get denied. Thank You so Much. Plus, is there a interview you have to go through in this process. Not that it matters, but I was a Police Officer for nearly 24 years and was going through a rough time 3 years ago. I have been law abiding my whole life arresting bad guys!!! Thank You.
