Bank Account

Post new topic

Hi,

We are new to Mauritius and I'm applying for residency. This will take a while but I will start work next week and need a bank account.  However several banks have refused to open an account without the residency.  Having spoken to the spouse section again, they said there is no law that requires me to present the residency to open an account.

Has anyone had similar experience?

Thanks!

Hello, I was able to do so with MCB without any problem.

Opening an account as a foreigner is way more difficult then it should be. You don't have to have the Residence Permit but you must have a reference from your bank in your original country.

Good luck
