Based on past performance of foreigners in Vietnam, it's likely to cost you everything you have, especially if this is simply your latest effort to get a long-term visa and not based on a sincere, lifetime commitment to a Vietnamese woman.

Go back to your idea of buying an investor visa.

That will be much cheaper in the long run.

To his credit hou have asked how to get a work visa even after saying you really don't want to work in Vietnam and also asked about getting an investor visa and now a marriage visa.  So it is obvious you are looking for any way possible to stay in Vietnam as a tourist/retiree without using the tourist visa that is currently available to you.

Hello everyone,

@ mikedylan2001, you have a thread here : Business DN visa with a Vietnamese company sponsorship

Didn't you go through with the DN business visa ?

Under the applicable laws of Vietnam, you and your Vietnamese partner will register your marriage at the People's Committe  (PC) of the district where your partner has permanent residence. It takes you about 14 working days (in practice, it may take longer if further verification required)  from the date of PC's receipt of the valid dossier submitted by you to receive 2 originals of the marriage certificate from the Judicial Department of the PC. You will have to pay a fee set by the PC of the province/ city for the procedure. Basically, you need to prepare the following documents:

+ A certificate from a competent Vietnamese or foreign medical services provider certifying that you do not have a mental illness or other disease impacting your ability to perceive and control your behavior.

+ Documents proving your marital status; In case your home country does not issue a certificate of marital status, it may be replaced with a document issued by your  home coutry's competent authority certifying that you  are eligible for marriage according to the law of your  home country.

+ Certified true  copy of  your passport or valid document in lieu of passport.

If I remember correct, in DaNang,  about 1.100,000 VND and some flowers for the woman who helped do the paperwork at the government office after it was all done. The document from 'shrink' saying I was OK...cost 250,000 VND for a Red stamp.  All in all, less than 30 days. A breeze really.  Never have had any problems with the government offices here, Immigration's has been outstanding over the previous 10 years here.

We all make assumptions here and OB calls them out. Is he correct or wrong, only time will tell that true story?
