Hi, My wife and my 11 year old daughter are about to move to Cambodia early next year and we have not got a set plan in place but we are thinking of running a small guesthouse, are there any problems with the athorities with that idea. How difficult is it to move from country to country without as we are getting a one way ticket. Is it possible to cross the border and then renter Cambodia and do we have to have a working visa.

knyom

you can get a business visa on arrival, which you will have then to extend (you can have 3,6 months ,1 year extensions).Until now there is no sign this practice will be changed; there has been a recent influx of Africans formerly living in Bangkok and chased away from there by the Thai police , and some of them are making troubles here ( drug dealing and bank frauds), of course cops and politicians are not amazed, so I preview some measures will be taken in a near future.
If you want to run a guest house there is no problem, you will have to get a commercial license, and a tax license, that's it.
If you need some more information, just ask.
Er...where exactly are you heading to? SIhanoukville or Siem Reap?

Thanks for your info Siem Reap is where we thinking of ,we have a friend there that is managering a guest house there which she loves. We met her in Vietnam last year.any other info you can give would be great ,we hope we can handle the heat as i believe the humity is the killer.ok talk later.Jeff
