Hi

We are looking to go to Tunisia for a weekend and all the Libyans I've spoken to say Djerba is the best place to go.  I don't know any expats who've made the trip but if anyone has can they please advise on:

border crossing
taxis
Djerba
what is the return border crossing like - do you get searched?

Want to bring a few 'things' back and don't want any problems.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks.

Haven't been to Djerba myself but know a few guys who go there to play golf for the weekend.

The border crossing can be a hassle and can take 1hr+ and they normally search the car for contraband. Make sure you have all the car papers with you or it's an excuse to collect money.

Thanks for the note and we'd heard the border can take hours to get through.  Also heard best not to take car so we are to leave and walk across.

I'm told it is harder going from Libya to Tunisia but not sure how strict they are coming in.  If they will search all bags and ourselves - there will be a group of us.

Locals tell me it isn't a problem - but think they are talking for themselves, ex-pats just seem to be a target for any scam going and just wanted to be prepared for any event.

Thanks again.
